ISTANBUL FOR FREE

Image
Having visited this city twice, it is impossible not to fall in love with this magical city! Lies between two continents, where east meets west, to me, Istanbul is one of the world's culturally interesting city. It's the fascinating mix of cultures that makes this city irresistible,  the arts and architecture; the local life; culinary heritage and the living history that are rolled into one.  Istanbul is one of the best cities in the world where you can enjoy exploring if it is just for one day. And going around the city doesn't necessarily requires you to spend much for you to have a pleasant time. If you plan to stay in Istanbul for a day or two, consider finding an accommodation around Sultanahmet, it is here where most of the important landmarks are located. It is the cultural area of Istanbul where historical landmarks are just walking distance from each other.  So here are some of the attractions where you can spend a day visiting them without...

SAFETY FIRST: How To Keep Yourself Secured When Traveling

Image
Just in a month, there were several attacks that have been reported that scared the world once again. Three weeks ago, there was an attack in Turkey's capital, Ankara and in just one week another blast has been listed in Istanbul. And just a couple of days ago two separate attacks rocked the city of Brussels Belgium that killed at least 30 people and injured around 200. With this kind of incidents, it gives a big fear to people to travel especially when security is compromised. We don't know when these things will happen, in fact, the terrorists may strike anytime and anywhere, so make sure to be vigilant and observant and take extra caution when you are in a different country. With such, I made my own list which I may find helpful on how to stay safe and secure when traveling. When you are in a foreign land always have a contact info of your embassy or consulate in case something emergency happens, you know where the best place to go. In case, there is no embass...

BREEZING THROUGH AIRPORT SECURITY: How to Avoid Hassle During Airport Security Check

Image
Sure traveling is fun but before you reach your destination there are yields and pit stops that you have to experience especially at the airport. Going at the airport may not seem to be convenient for other travelers, long lines at the check-in counters; immigration check; passport control and, of course, the security check. What I hate about traveling abroad is that you have to pass a lot of security inspection especially at the airports. I know I should not be complaining about this as this is a standard operating procedure and it is about my safety as a traveler, but going for more than three checks is quite annoying.  There are airports that implement a tight security, especially nowadays that terrorist attacks are everywhere. When I was at Istanbul airport I have to pass three inspections before I boarded the plane, good thing I was early otherwise there is a chance that I can miss my flight, just imagine how busy the airport there. As a traveler, I want to mak...

FLAT PACKING vs ROLLING: How to Save More Space When Traveling

Watch this video on The Scene . A lot of us face problems when we try to pack our things when going on vacation, as much as possible we want to bring a lot of stuff to maximize the space on our luggage. Sometimes our luggage is not enough to fit all our things when packing up for a holiday. So what is really the best way to save space on your luggage when traveling? I have read a lot of travel tips when it comes to packing your things and how to organize your clothes on your bags, there are ways on how to arrange your things in a convenient way.  Flat packing will make your clothes look neat and crumple-free while rolling maybe a space saver, expect your clothes to be wrinkled when you unroll them. Based on experience I tried rolling and folding my clothes and I guess both techniques saves space. It is just a matter of how you arrange your things to fit in your bags. To see which method is useful for you, check out the video above. video courtesy...

TRAVEL ESSENTIALS : Gearing up for Summer

Image
It's summer time once again and the best way to spend it is by going to the beach! Either you soak yourself on the cold water; sunbath under the sun or just simply relax under the shady palm trees feeling the cold breeze coming from the sea, you have many options on how you are going to beat the heat. Since most of us are heading to the beaches to cool down, I want to know what basic things you bring to spend your weekend getaway. I made my own list of “what to bring” when you want to spend your summer on the beach. 1.      A pair of espadrilles - walking on a shoreline is quite difficult because of the sand so better wear a pair of espadrilles to make your feet comfortable while exploring the beach area, besides they are easy to remove once you decided to take a dip on the water. If you are not comfortable wearing these, you have the option of wearing your flip-flops. 2.       Sun block with SPF - to protect your skin from...

Travel Essentials: Basic things you want to bring when travelling

Image
What do you usually bring when you are traveling? What's inside your luggage when you go on a holiday? Aside from clothes, of course, there are some things that you don't wanna miss in your luggage when you go on a trip. I made my own list of things that I will bring when I go traveling, but of course, these things will depend on the place you are going to visit and what kind of activity you will do while on vacation. First on my list is my cell phone. I guess this is the most important (aside from money) thing that you shouldn't forget because aside from being a basic necessity, you can call your family or friends to give them update if you have reached your destination safely. Since phones now have applications, you can use your phone to connect to the internet and locate places through GPS in case you are lost or having difficulty in finding places. Since I love music, 2nd on my list is a pair of earphones, wouldn't be nice if you are traveling on a far pl...
